The Gilded Age star (and Meryl Streep’s daughter) Louisa Jacobson comes out

Louisa Jacobson has come out as queer.

The actress, who stars as Marian Brook on HBO’s historical drama The Gilded Age, publicly announced her status as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community via Instagram on 22 June – the same day as her mother’s birthday, three-time Academy Award-winning icon Meryl Streep.

“Blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside an image with her girlfriend, producer Anna Blundell, as well as several selfies and an article about the “joyful new era of lesbian fashion”.

Jacobson is the youngest child of Streep and her husband Don Gummer. Their three other children are Henry Wolfe, 44, Mamie, 40, and Grace, 38.

She initially rose to fame in theatre productions such as Native Son (2017), The Member of the Wedding (2018) and Romeo & Juliet (2019), before landing her breakout role in The Gilded Age.

Set in 1882 New York City, the series stars Jacobson as Marian, a young woman who moves in with her “old-money aunts and quickly gets entangled in the social war between them and their new-money neighbors”.

The Gilded Age also stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Jack Gilpin, Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.

Jacobson will make her film debut in Materialists, written and directed by Celine Song, a rom-com following the story of a “match-maker, her ex-boyfriend and a wealthy businessman”.

She will star alongside Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Zoë Winters, Dasha Nekrasova and Marin Ireland.
