GAY TIMES partners with Faber Members for an evening of revolutionary queer storytelling
GAY TIMES has teamed up with Faber Members for a special Pride celebration which will include readings from authors Jason Okundaye, Oisín McKenna and Joelle Taylor.
Summer is here there’s no better way to spend a sweltering London evening than celebrating queer love with a night of readings, music, film and drinks at Faber HQ, The Bindery on Hatton Garden.
The event will begin with readings by Oisín McKenna from his acclaimed debut novel Evenings and Weekends and poet Joelle Taylor from her award-winning collection, C+nto & Othered Poems, Orwell Prize-shortlisted Jason Okundaye, will then discuss his landmark social history, Revolutionary Acts: Love & Brotherhood in Black Gay Britain, his investigation into the lives of Black gay men throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties against a backdrop of discrimination, marginalisation and the growing AIDS crisis.
Jason will be in conversation with Megan Wallace, UK Editorial Director at GAY TIMES. The evening will end with a screening of The Homecoming: A Short Film about Ajamu (1995), which focuses on young Brixton-based photographer Ajamu Ikwe-Tyehimba as he prepares for an exhibition of his work.

- This event is taking place at Faber’s premises at The Bindery, 51 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8HN.
- The nearest underground stations are Chancery Lane Station (Central line) and Farringdon Station (Circle line, The Elizabeth line, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan line).
- Doors will open at 6.15 p.m.
- Ticket price includes a drinks reception.
- There will be a bookshop open with signed books available by card payment only.
- People eligible for concessionary rates can get £5 off tickets using code Concession5 in the promo box in the checkout.
- This is a ticketless event – there will be a guest list on the door with your name and the number of tickets you have bought.
