Drag Race season 15: Malaysia Babydoll Foxx confirms cut scenes

Malaysia Babydoll Foxx has confirmed another RuPaul’s Drag Race staple has been edited out of season 15.

While the new season has been met with praise for the sheer amount of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent on display and, of course, the premiere’s talent show performances, it’s been subject of controversy as a result of the new runtime.

To make room for MTV’s new LGBTQ+ series The Friends of WeHo, season 15 has been cut down from 90 minutes to 60 (with ads), resulting in a significantly shortened runway walk and the removal of judges’ deliberations, as well as RuPaul’s signature call-to-action, “Bring back my girls.”

Aura Mayari tweeted that “a lot of fun chaotic” interactions between the queens in the werkroom were also left on the cutting room floor.

Additional queens who spoke out include Salina Esttitties, who said the cast “worked two hard and invested too much” for the edit to be slashed, and Loosey LaDuca, who wrote: “These short runways are AC-TU-AL-LY killing me.”

She added: “All that time, money, and effort. Yeeeesh.”

Loni Love – who memorably competed on RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race – recently offered her “apologies to the queens” of season 15.

In a recent tweet, Malaysia also revealed that Ru-Mails – which sees RuPaul announce details of the current week’s maxi-challenge with another one of her signature quotes, “She done already done had herses” – were in fact filmed this season, but they were completely removed from the edit.

“Holy hell how did I not realize this! I knew it felt like something very important was missing,” said one fan on Reddit, while another responded: “Shedonealreadydonehadherses is a classic.

“Yes they add nothing but they are like 10 seconds. Come on now! Also the editing of the queens reacting to Rumails but they cut to RuPaul coming in is awful!”

On 9 February, Drag Race acknowledged the backlash for the first time as they revealed thatseason 15 will return to its standard 90-minute runtime “starting Friday March 10”.

This season features the largest cast in the franchise’s herstory with 16 contestants, as well as the largest cash prize at $200,000.

The cast is as follows: Amethyst, Anetra, Aura Mayari, Irene Dubois, Jax, Loosey LaDuca, Luxx Noir London, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Princess Poppy, Robin Fierce, Salina Estitties, Sasha Colby, Spice and Sugar.
