All of Us Strangers: Andrew Scott and Claire Foy have an emotional reunion in new clip

Searchlight Pictures has treated fans to a new sneak peek of All of Us Strangers, and it’s heart-wrenching.

Spoilers ahead

Based on the novel Strangers by Japanese novelist Taichi Yamada, All of Us Strangers follows screenwriter Adam (Scott), who navigates a new romance with his mysterious neighbour Harry (Mescal).

However, things take a surprising turn when Adam comes across his dead parents (Jamie Bell and Claire Foy), who “appear to be living just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”

While All of Us Strangers is still a ways away from its UK release, Searchlight Pictures surprised fans with a new clip of the film featuring Scott and Foy’s characters.

At the start of the video, a soaked Adam (Scott) roams around his childhood bedroom in search of clean clothes.

Foy – who’s character name is just Mum in the film – breaks the silence by knocking on his door before announcing that his old clothes probably won’t fit anymore.

“I brought you some of your dad’s things instead,” she said.

While Adam is changing into his father’s clothes, Mum expresses her shock over his adult body, stating: “You were just a boy. Now, you’re not. You’re totally different, but you’re still you.”

The two then share thoughtful looks before Mum jokes about him not having as much body hair as his father.

“Gosh, do you know who you remind me of? You look just like my dad,” she continues. “God, isn’t that mad? It’s like seeing you both exactly at the same time.”

Towards the end of the clip, a visibly emotional Mum informs Adam that she made his favourite food so they can catch up on lost time, which results in a sombre look from the latter.

Shortly after the clip was released, fans took to social media to express their reactions to the emotional teaser.

One fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote: “There is not a single film I’ve been as excited for as AOUS.”

Another movie enthusiast posted: “THE FACT THAT I’M TEARING UP FROM THIS SMALL CLIP. I NEED THIS NOW.”

Over the last few months, All of Us Strangers has received universal acclaim at various film festivals for its moving story, incredible acting performances, and the electric chemistry between Scott and Mescal.

It also holds a certified fresh rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The official synopsis for the film reads: “As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”

All of Us Strangers is scheduled for release on 22 December in the US and 26 January in the UK.
